Evolution of technology: digital vs. analog tour-guide systems

The primary advantage of digital tour guide systems is their resistance to interference and noise. Thanks to the use of digital modulation, the sound is clearer and more pleasant to receive. Furthermore, digitalization, through the use of encoding, minimizes the risk of interference that can cause squealing or echo and increases transmission security. Moreover, additional features,
available in models such as Okayo OTG-102 or Okayo Wavetalk, e.g., automatic search for channels free from interference, allow for comfortable communication even in the presence of other devices using similar frequencies.

Can we expect any additional benefits that we have not encountered with analog tour guide communication? Of course! However, they depend on the specific model. As we know, digitalization goes hand in hand with automation and flexibility, which allows for more convenient group management. For example, the two-way system Okayo EzTour enables the guide to mute the receiver from the transmitter level and remotely grant the floor. In turn, mGuide DLR-02 has a PTT (push to talk) function, thanks to which we can request to speak from the receiver level.

An important issue in the case of digital tour-guide systems
and wireless intercoms is also the advantage
in terms of efficiency. These systems offer similar range, to their analog counterparts, while using significantly less power, resulting in longer battery life and a smaller environmental impact.

The transformation from analog radio systems to digital brings many benefits, especially in industries such as:

It has a positive impact on both work comfort and the ecological aspect of business operations. Despite initial challenges, such as equipment compatibility, investing in digitalization is a key step toward sustainable and more efficient communication.
